Databases v Spreadsheets for managing risks

You wouldn’t trust your clinical trial data to a spreadsheet. You’d use a database like an EDC or CTMS. You wouldn’t store patient health and medical histories in a spreadsheet. Nor track lab data like test results and sample tracking. So why do some people think it’s ok to trust their critical factor and risk data to a spreadsheet?
