Financial Accountant – Remote
Key Functions
The key functions performed by the Financial Accountant will include but may not be limited to the following areas:
1) Financial Accounting and General Bookkeeping
All routine financial accounting and bookkeeping functions for the THL
group. This includes:
- managing sales invoice templates, request for payments, etc. in
the accounting systems - raising invoices and requests for payments to customers and
cross-billing between companies in the THL group in accounting
systems - preparation of customer statements
- maintaining the contracted invoice databases
- maintaining the issued invoice databases
- running the monthly cross-billing reconciliation
- maintaining the cashbook database for actual bank transactions
and coding to reporting lines - reconciling the cashbook database to accounting systems and
actual bank statements on a weekly basis - updating the cashbook database for forecast supplier spend and
- forecast cash receipts on a monthly basis
- booking all supplier invoices and expense claim receipts in
accounting systems, coding to expense categories, coding to
projects and matching to issued Purchase orders and submitting
for approval. - management of the chart of accounts and project codes and
creation of new general ledger accounts and project codes in
agreement with Financial Controller/ CFO.
2) Month-end processes
- preparing accruals and prepayments listings and the calculation
of the monthly release/deferral journals of accruals and
prepayments for processing of journals in general ledger
calculating and processing the monthly deferred revenue and
unbilled revenue journals to process as journals in the general
ledger - maintaining monthly reconciliations of all main balance sheet
accounts in general ledgers
creation and booking of the monthly journals to recharge the costs
of all hours recorded by staff on timesheets to the general ledger
expense codes and projects specified by the Financial Controller /
CFO - creation and booking of month end journals for prepayments,
accruals, revenue recognition, hosting cost amortization and - Preparation of month-end reconciliations of all balance sheet
accounts, including bank accounts, debtors and creditors,
accruals, prepayments, VAT, payroll remittances, and fixed
assets - ensure the intercompany balances reconcile each month end
using the agreed month end and monthly average foreign
exchange rates. - review monthly P&L for anomalies.
creation of all month-end workbooks for each company in THL - preparation of monthly consolidated Balance Sheet.
3) Payroll
- Creation of payroll input sheets to be submitted to Price Bailey for
processing each month, based on payroll variation workbook
received from Head of HR/Financial Controller/CFO - Maintaining the payroll section of the cashbook database for actual
and predicted contracted payroll costs - creation of monthly payroll journals to record actual payroll costs in
the general ledgers - creation of monthly BAC payment run and reconciliation to Payroll
listing received from Price Bailey
4) Expenses
- Administration of the system used to claim expenses and the
associated integration with the general ledger(s). - Reviewing, processing and recording in the general ledger reimbursement expense claims and associated receipts submitted
by staff. - Reconciliation of credit card expenses and claims to credit card
statements and the general ledger
5) Archiving of accounting source documentation
- Maintaining the cloud document storage facility (currently
Microsoft Sharepoint) as a repository and back-up for all
accounting documents including customer contracts, customer
purchase orders, customer and intercompany invoices, supplier
invoices, bank statements, expense claims, expense receipts,
payroll records, and any routine employee documentation which
is not to be held in the HR information system.
6) Fixed Assets
- Recording acquisitions and disposals of fixed assets and
maintaining the general ledger fixed asset record for all fixed
assets capitalised on the balance sheet. Record annual journals
for depreciation of fixed assets. - If required, facilitating the movement of fixed assets.
7) Audit Support
- provision of supporting accounting information and documentation
to auditors as required by the Financial Controller and CFO
8) VAT
- Preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns for review by
Financial Controller / CFO prior to filing.
9) Accounting Policy and Journal Documentation
- Preparation of documentation to describe the accounting policies
and journals used to record the revenue transactions associated
with complex customer contracts and customer prepayments. - Preparation of documentation to describe the accounting policies
and journals used to record rebates and refunds
10)Accounting systems documentation and workflows
- Provision of documentation to describe accounting processes
- Provision of support for the documentation and description of the
workflows which involve the Finance Department
11) Ad hoc
- provision of ad hoc information and reports to CFO as required.
Required Skills:
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good analytical and numerical abilities
- Good understanding of and extensive experience of using Xero and
Quickbooks financial accounting systems - Knowledge and experience of accountancy and bookkeeping
- Accuracy and eye for detail
Qualifications:
Qualified Accountant and qualifying experience as a Bookkeeper
Experience:
- Years of accounting experience – 5+ years
- Years of bookkeeping experience – 5+ years
- Knowledge and use of accounting packages – 5+ years
- Level of competence on Excel – Intermediate

information when it is received in order to meet month-end and year end timetables - Attention to detail for client facing documentation
